The next morning he woke her up by kissing her, first her cheekbone and then her nose. From there he went to her ear.
“Scott?”
“Yes. Who else would suck on your earlobe?” He grinned at her.
“I didn’t hear you when you came in.”
“You were sleeping so peacefully that I didn’t want to wake you.” He was leaning on his side looking at her. In his head he saw her as she had been yesterday when she got out of the shower. “Maybe we can shower together this morning?”
“Scott, we need to talk.” Brianna tried to sit up, but Scott moved her so he was pinning her down.
“I know I talked to Cathy. You want to do something that is just for you. I get that. I talked to my father, and he seems to think that I wouldn’t be causing such a commotion if you were in something like the Sound of Music. Therefore, I am going to be supportive and encourage you like I should have done from the beginning. I need a ticket for the front row, so I can cheer you on.”
“Do you really mean that?”
“Yes, but if anyone sees too much of you, I will jump on stage and cover you up.”
“Sounds fair. Something small like that wouldn’t disturb the performance anyway,” Brianna joked.
“I love you, Brianna. I want our marriage to work, but you have to promise to take a break whenever you need one. Don’t be shy about it. Please, promise me.”
“I won’t, I promise. I really appreciate this, Scott. You won’t regret it.”
“I already regret it, and you don’t have to thank me. I should have been supportive from the beginning. This is a big deal for you. Like the bar exam for me.”
“Maybe not quite as important as the bar, but it is important.”
“I’m sure you will learn things that will be important later when you work at church. We will have great Christmas pageants.”
He lowered his body down over her and kissed her. Her soft lips felt so good under his. He longed to make love to her.
“I can hardy wait until we are married. Maybe we should see the Justice of the Peace today yet,” he joked.
“Just so you can have – sex.” She whispered the last word.
“Yes,” he answered her deadpan.
“We can’t get married today. You said something about a double date this evening.”
“Yes, I promised that we would go. If you have rehearsal, we can reschedule.” Scott carefully laid down on her completely, propping his upper body up with his elbows, so he wouldn’t hurt her.
“No, I just have rehearsal from one until four.”
“I like waking up with you. This could become a habit.”
“I like this too.”
“We can’t tell your parents, or mine.”
“Or Cathy,” Brianna added.
Scott enjoyed her smile, but he still had to make amends. “I’m sorry, Brianna. I have had so much going on with me, but I should have talked to you about everything. I’m glad that your teacher is taking things slow with you. It means a lot to me that you told him.
